The Power of Collective Advocacy

The world has changed and so has the fight.

Human trafficking remains one of the fastest-growing and most profitable criminal industries in the world. Globally, human trafficking generates an estimated US $150 billion annually in illicit profits for traffickers.
But while awareness has risen over the years, traffickers’ methods have also evolved. Online exploitation, grooming, and recruitment through social media and digital platforms now make up a large, rapidly growing, portion of trafficking tactics.
According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), in 2023 their CyberTipline logged more than 186,800 reports of online enticement — a 300% increase in just two years compared to 2021.
These numbers show a grim reality: trafficking today is more hidden and pervasive than many realize. But within that darkness, there is hope — because the movement to fight back is growing stronger.
A Growing Movement of Justice and Hope
Every day, more survivors are speaking out. Communities are organizing. Advocacy groups, law enforcement, and local leaders are partnering in ways never seen before. I’ve witnessed this growth firsthand, grassroots teams providing rescue and recovery, community-led campaigns raising awareness, and organizations mobilizing resources for long-term support.
Through it all, Last Word by SL has been listening, learning, and preparing. We are re-emerging with a louder voice, a bolder vision, and an OUT-THERE commitment to expose injustice and fight for healing.
If you believe, like we do, that no survivor’s story should ever be silenced, that all of us can be a part of a positive, empowering change, we invite you to stand with us. Check out our social channels (linked below), follow along, share our story and support our 2026 goals.
